SNAMP Sock Drive Poster - 2012 West Coast Fisher Symposium

This poster presents a summary of the explosive results from our sock drive--The story about how social media could help spread the word of one’s research, increasing awareness, as well as saving valuable funding on simple everyday items. We have been looking for media coverage for 4 years and in 48 hours we had appeared in dozens of news stories, blogs and radio stories. In one month we had all the socks Rick needed, saving him thousands of dollars over the life of the project. By the end we had received socks from people in more than ½ the states in the country: over 250 packages, $1000+ spent in postage and we were able to donate xtra socks to those in need locally and other researchers. It has ended as a service project for Girl Scout Troops, 4-Hers and classrooms of students across the United States from Connecticut to Wisconsin to California. But the best part is that our sense of the kindness humans are capable of has been rejuvenated!!

This poster is presented by the Fisher team at the 2012 West Coast Fisher Symposium.
