Carnivores in Relation to Roads Poster - 2012 Western Section of the Wildlife Society Conference

Some carnivores are shy in nature and avoid humans whereas others do not. Also, some carnivores use roads as an easier way to traverse their home ranges, especially during winter. In this poster we compiled data on cameras where different species of medium size carnivores were detected, and calculated the distances of each camera from roads. Our analyses focused on evaluating whether there was evidence that forest carnivores avoided roads used by recreational users and hunters in the Sierra National Forest during the summer (most roads open) compared to winter (many roads closed).

This is a poster presented by the Fisher team at the 2012 Western Section of the Wildlife Society Conference.
